The Smith is my go to spot in NYC. This time tried the smoked salmon potato waffle. A great hybrid of my favorite dishes. Two poached eggs sit on a layer of smoked salmon with a thick potato latke base all draped with hollandaise sauce and sprinkled with rye seed.

Had to use the $5 credit from Nordstrom’s customer appreciation event in the summer. The peppermint ice storm was super refreshing and had just the right amount of mint and sugar with a homogeneous ice slurry.

Potato leek soup was like a warm hug after jury selection earlier that day. I love this place since you can sample soups before committing to one.

Hidden in the back of Wantagh Bagels this place has innovative seasonal specialty bagels. The apple pie one is here now and yeah it does taste like an apple. Previously they had a pumpkin bagel shaped like a pumpkin.

Got the Nonna’s Prix Fixe menu: 4 courses for $39 served every Sunday served family style. Only caveat is that everyone at the table must agree to order the same thing. Everything was excellent. Will be visiting again.

My local go to for freshly baked cookies with a warm soft inside. It’s like a less buttery version of a Levain cookie. Took advantage of the uber eats BOGO offer. For Halloween they gave out Lil’ chip cookies to anyone in costume. 🎃

Pre-Scavenger hunt happy hour for Remus Bourbon’s Gatsby Reserve with complimentary cocktails. It literally took 30 min to deliver my drink. I think the east egg I ordered was delivered to someone else. At least I was able to enjoy the speakeasy sour. Today (Oct 29) Remus hid copies of the Great Gatsby in some NYC bookstores (listed in their IG). Some books will include a voucher for a free bottle. Too bad I don’t have enough time today to hunt.

Food always tastes better when it’s free! Picked up some snacks on the way home. These fries are good enough to enjoy w/o any sauce and are perfect for snacking on in traffic. Apple pie was a nice sweet snack too. I like the stratification of the crust since it increases the apple to crust ratio. Hope everyone else is winning free food too with the Monopoly game.
