The one word I would use for Konban is cozy. Stepping down some stairs and entering the warm, wood atmosphere set the tone. The foods were all hearty and although, it did not look like a lot, three dishes was enough for two people. The branzino had a crispy skin and the broth was super umami. I think those mushrooms could change a mushroom hater’s mind. The pork loin and mazeman were equally amazing. Wasabi and salt seems to be an up and coming flavor trend and I’m all for it. First Nubiani, now Konban. It adds the perfect amount of kick and flavor to really accent the meat. I would come back in a heartbeat.

I don’t remember what I got exactly but everything was great. The ribs were super tender and even the bone was edible. The hamachi was so smooth and the noodle dishes hit so hard. Great pricing too

Went here for a company lunch and it was alright. The xiaolongbao were not bad but they were not that hot - the crab one was much better than the pork but I’ve had better. The fried rice was alright, rice cakes were decent, and the wonton soup was refreshing but somewhat salty. The shumai was decent too as there was a lot of shrimp, but tasted whatever. Everything else was unremarkable, especially the beef tenderloin… that is a must skip, especially for $30. The highlight of the meal was the sea salt cream green tea honestly as it wasn’t too sweet and the cream was adequately salty.
