Thank you @ally for letting us steal this res 🙏🙏🙏. Sunn’s at 7pm on a weekend is crazy. It was insanely cute and vibey in there, and this was the best tteokbokki I’ve had in my life. It was much more like gnocchi haha. Overall though, I was not blown away by the flavors (as @queenie had warned). It was quite expensive for the portion sizes haha. We ordered the recommended number of dishes, spent 170, and left hungry 😆😅 ( I did grab a chopped cheese on the way home 😆😆😆). I’d go for the super cute hole in the wall vibes, an extremely friendly staff and Chef Sunn!!! Thank you again @ally !!!

New permanent location of the popular Korean banchan pop-up series, Banchan by Sunny! It’s teeny tiny, so a res is a must. They also have a partnership with Parcelle, so you know the wine list hits. Stepping inside, the food and hospitality make it feel like you’re entering someone’s home. The menu is small, so ofc we got everything and my faves were the dishes that felt like I could literally eat everyday because they just felt so homey and warm. The tteokbokki is a must - rosé-style and cheesy so it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I loved it; the mandoo guk was also incredibly flavorful - could drink this for the rest of my days. Loved the spicy tuna kimbap too. The banchan is a tad expensive, but standouts included the mushroom & lotus and eggplant. They have one dessert - the sesame mochi - which isn’t going to stun the average diner but again, I think the goal is to showcase flavors Chef Sunny herself grew up with. (She’s super sweet btw - would def recommend saying hi before you leave).
