Finally tried Fixe Southern House 🍗😔
Only ended up here because Vince Young HH is DEAD 🪦🥩 (still grieving). Planned my whole day around it. Tragic.
Went for happy hour (3–6) ⏰🍸. Vibes were solid ✨, space was nice, a little dark 🌑 — had to use flash 📸⚡️ (Luke disagrees… comment flash or no flash).
Food? Mid 😐
The burger 🍔 was fine but the bread was WRONG. Way too thick, cakey, overpowering everything. Not top 5. Not top 10. But it was $10, so I’ll allow it 😌. If I paid full price? I’d be spiraling.
Rohit hated his chicken sandwich 🍗❌.
Big caveat: didn’t get to try the biscuits or cinnamon rolls this time 😭🥐 — which hurts because they’re supposed to be elite (same owners as Hissy Fit, and I’ve had those cinnamon rolls before… unreal).
Surprises:
• Pimento cheese 🧀🔥 — shockingly elite
• Focaccia MVP 🍞
• Fish & chips 🐟🍟: batter great, fish fine, fries meh
• Hush puppies = still confused 🤷♂️
Would I come back for happy hour? Probably not ❌
Would I come back for biscuits/cinnamon rolls? Absolutely 👀
Overall: mid food, good vibes, downtown convenience.
I think unfortunately fixe is not a great happy hour spot.
i’ve been here before for dinner and it was very tasty. we have also been to hissy fit which was its sister restaurant and we enjoyed it there.
this trip missed the mark.
the burger was okay; bun was disappointing. fish and chips were not great. fries were below average and the fish wasn’t that good and poorly breaded.
star of the show was the focaccia with pimento. really enjoyed that!
