went on a lil date last night at the roadhouse this was my first time so i was a little nervous 🤭 but wow 🤩, what an establishment; many families, birthdays and sports teams gathering to enjoy a great meal free peanuts and unlimited sweet bread rolls is pretty awesome 💯, however , i may have over indulged on the nuts an bread bc i was full by the time my food came. their steak was delish 🥩 ribs were solid 🐷 baked potato and sweet potato were aite would go again. but this is like a once-a-year kinda spot. pro tip: use the app and hop on the waitlist. people were willing to wait 50 minutes for a table, personally i’d rather die ☠️

manny really wanted to do a review for chipotle. what’s there to say, this place always hits the spot. got a burrito, key thing to note is that i always ask for half chicken half steak to get more protein. anyways love chipotle, will def be back.

chipotle has its own distinctive taste that is slaps once in a while… it must be the seed oils! did the classic side tortilla bowl hack where i make my own burrito with half of the contents of my bowl. 🤓

Yeah, this place is nuts. i wish i wasn’t slightly hungover to enjoy it more. the food was very good and in my opinion very authentic. i got the chicken shawarma and it did not disappoint, great portion sizes as well. samples plate was amazing and they kept the bread coming! would definitely go back, only con is that it’s located in west campus.

Post church grub indeed. shoutout to luke for deciding not to eat at home and joining me for lunch. julie’s noodles was good, not as good as i thought it was going to be - maybe i ordered wrong. i agree with luke on the beef burrito and dumplings, both were great but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the stewed lamb noodle soup. looking forward to our next post church grub

post church grub with rohit. after we swerved on julie’s a few weeks ago, we decided to stop by. we both got the lamb noodle soup. at first, the handmade noodles were hidden and I thought I got pranked since it seemed like it was just glass noodles. luckily after some digging, I found the good stuff. noodles were very tasty. broth on the other hand was just okay. I added some chili oil to spice it up but it wasn’t anything special. the lamb was pretty good and the other stuff tasted good. the beef burrito (wrapped in a scallion pancake) was excellent. beef was super tender and the pancake was also top tier. will def get this on return. we also split the soup dumplings which were good but nothing insane. overall a good experience. highlights were the noodles and the burrito. would return.

talk to any austin yuppie and they’ve likely been to de nada in the past month or two. de nada is trendy and most well known for their heavy hitting margs and day drinking vibes. I see the appeal, the frozen marg here is pretty phenomenal and is a great way to spend an afternoon. however, this trip was focused on the food here rather than the bevs. me, rohit, and jadon all cooked sunday morning with our respective runs. shortly after opening at 11 am we converged at de nada for some grub. I was thoroughly impressed with everything I got today. birria breakfast taco and migas taco were phenomenal and great size. the egg in both was cooked perfectly and the meat in the birria was so tender and ideal. I also got the crispy beef tacos. while some might claim a hard shell is criminal, I dare any hater to try this taco and discount it; the beef inside is seasoned excellently and the crema complements it well. at $2.50 a pop you are getting a taco for cheaper than taco bell and 10x better. I’ve gotten the quesadillas here before and would recommend those to any first time visitor (along with a frozen marg). while this place shines on a saturday afternoon, it is worth the visit even off peak.

one of the best smashes in austin. but be ready to pay for it. the double smash here is $16 and it is top 3 and arguably top 1 smash in austin (my other contenders are jewboy, cuantas, and bills). the burger is excellent and the toppings really elevate this burger to a flavorful masterpiece. even better, it’s open till 3 am which more late nite spots need to do instead of closing at 2. rohit got the beast fries which were topped with a lot; I only tried a few but they were decent. pro tip: used the InKind app here for 20% off; makes the price more reasonable!

went here after church on Sunday; me and rohit originally planned on hitting Julie’s Noodles but pivoted here after Manny begged on his hands and knees for us to come here instead. glad we did. i’ve heard about this spot many times and it is praised highly not only as a authentic schezuan spot but as one of the best restaurants overall in austin (10th on infatuation’s top 25). we let manny take the lead on ordering and he did excellent (although the crispy fish we saw another table had ordered on the way out looked taste-worthy). pork dish, jumping fish, and peppercorn chicken. we also got the combo lo mien. all the dishes were excellent and the flavor profile on all of them was top tier. my favorite would have to be the fish. super yummy, not too expensive either! left super full and satisfied. will definitely be back.

went to KG BBQ after Lift on friday evening. KG is one of my favorite spots in austin; a top 3 meal i’ve had here is their rice bowls which have the perfect mix of tasty ingredients. saffron rice, tomato/cucumber, pomegranate seeds, onions, and of course the bbq meat. my favorite here is the lamb and brisket; today they were out of lamb so solely got brisket. they have a variety of egyptian-inspired texas bbq meats; my favorite sides from them are the purple potato salad and the mac and cheese. for just $5 more than a bowl at chipotle you can enjoy the best rice bowl austin has to offer. long live KG.

post-lifetime pre-poker meal with rohit 🔥 locked in at the gym rn between ACL weekends, needed to fuel up after a quick pull day. rohit was opposed but I wore him down and we hit sap’s since I was craving noodles. last time I was here I got a curry that was phenomenal but too spicy for me to handle and I felt it the next day 😔 the pad see ew hit my craving but it wasn’t anything super special. I also got the cheese rolls for some reason. basically linear crab rangoon. rohit liked his curry so I think getting a curry here is the play.
