post church grub with rohit. after we swerved on julie’s a few weeks ago, we decided to stop by. we both got the lamb noodle soup. at first, the handmade noodles were hidden and I thought I got pranked since it seemed like it was just glass noodles. luckily after some digging, I found the good stuff. noodles were very tasty. broth on the other hand was just okay. I added some chili oil to spice it up but it wasn’t anything special. the lamb was pretty good and the other stuff tasted good. the beef burrito (wrapped in a scallion pancake) was excellent. beef was super tender and the pancake was also top tier. will def get this on return. we also split the soup dumplings which were good but nothing insane. overall a good experience. highlights were the noodles and the burrito. would return.

talk to any austin yuppie and they’ve likely been to de nada in the past month or two. de nada is trendy and most well known for their heavy hitting margs and day drinking vibes. I see the appeal, the frozen marg here is pretty phenomenal and is a great way to spend an afternoon. however, this trip was focused on the food here rather than the bevs. me, rohit, and jadon all cooked sunday morning with our respective runs. shortly after opening at 11 am we converged at de nada for some grub. I was thoroughly impressed with everything I got today. birria breakfast taco and migas taco were phenomenal and great size. the egg in both was cooked perfectly and the meat in the birria was so tender and ideal. I also got the crispy beef tacos. while some might claim a hard shell is criminal, I dare any hater to try this taco and discount it; the beef inside is seasoned excellently and the crema complements it well. at $2.50 a pop you are getting a taco for cheaper than taco bell and 10x better. I’ve gotten the quesadillas here before and would recommend those to any first time visitor (along with a frozen marg). while this place shines on a saturday afternoon, it is worth the visit even off peak.

went here after church on Sunday; me and rohit originally planned on hitting Julie’s Noodles but pivoted here after Manny begged on his hands and knees for us to come here instead. glad we did. i’ve heard about this spot many times and it is praised highly not only as a authentic schezuan spot but as one of the best restaurants overall in austin (10th on infatuation’s top 25). we let manny take the lead on ordering and he did excellent (although the crispy fish we saw another table had ordered on the way out looked taste-worthy). pork dish, jumping fish, and peppercorn chicken. we also got the combo lo mien. all the dishes were excellent and the flavor profile on all of them was top tier. my favorite would have to be the fish. super yummy, not too expensive either! left super full and satisfied. will definitely be back.
