Kafe de Manila is truly one of those rare spots that feels both comforting and exciting at the same time. From the moment you walk in, you’re met with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for the experience. The space is cozy with a soft purple aesthetic that reflects the star of the show, ube, and it genuinely feels like stepping into a little piece of the Philippines.
What really stands out is how intentional everything is. This isn’t just a trendy dessert spot hopping on the ube wave. The flavors here feel authentic, rich, and carefully crafted in a way that honors Filipino desserts. As someone who grew up in the Philippines, I can confidently say the ube here tastes like home. It has that deep, slightly nutty, naturally sweet flavor that a lot of places miss when they try to recreate it.
I tried the Ube Matcha, Ube Monster Milkshake, Ube Crinkles, Ube Tres Leches, and Ube Banana Pudding, and each one had its own unique texture and experience. The Ube Matcha was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, not too bitter, and incredibly smooth. The Ube Monster Milkshake felt indulgent in the best way, while the crinkles were soft and cakey with a strong ube flavor throughout. The Tres Leches and Banana Pudding stood out for how creamy and layered they were, making each bite feel full and satisfying without being overwhelming.
Beyond the food, the people behind the counter really elevate the experience. There’s a genuine warmth and kindness that makes you feel like more than just a customer. It feels personal, like you’re being welcomed into a space that truly cares about sharing Filipino culture through food.
