I can’t believe I’m about to say this. What was once a palace of grandeur and excellence, has now become… underwhelming!?
At the price this place demands per crab cake, and the bathroom attendants making you feel like peeing costs $5, you should be showered with petals every step of the way.
However, the 23 oz dry aged bone in ribeye lacked salt and was cooked like someone watched a YouTube tutorial on how to make a steak and it was their first efforts. Not bad, but needs improvement. And at Mastros, there should be no mistakes.
The Mac and cheese was Mac and cheese.
The cheese topping wasn’t even melted all the way when it came to us so it was just a coagulated still semi solid cheese hat.
The holy beef tallow French fries resembled the type you get at a fish and chips shack. Either these fries were mid or beef tallow is overrated (the answer is: both are true)
It took 75 min from the time of the reservation to receive the 1 entree, and the appetizer was forgotten and had to be ordered again.
Said appetizer (clear lobster roll) was the only highlight of the meal. But for $30 I’ve got to levitate.
Shame on you Mastros Ocean Club. The bubble of my childlike wonder for you was popped this time around. Is this what Adam and Eve felt like when they realized their vulnerabilities?
