let me tell you all a tale of a lad growing up in little known smithtown, deep in the suburbs of long island. he was young, energetic, and exceedingly handsome. one of his core childhood memories would be the bimonthly trip to flushing where they would grocery shop, get $10 haircuts, and eat at the same chinese restaurant every time, thus beginning a lifelong love of dan dan noodles. fast forward 15+ years and the young lad has blossomed into an adult, though still young, energetic, and just as handsome. his love of dan dan noodles has never wavered, yet after years of living in nyc, he has been disappointed by the dan dan noodles of every manhattan restaurant he has visited. culinarily, he found them to be too soupy, too peanuty/sesame-y, too chewy, and overall not the intense salty, spicy flavor of his memories past. out of desperation one day, he asked his mom if she knew where to find these fabled noodles again. to his surprise, she not only remembered but it was still open!! for weeks, there was nothing else on his mind but to return to this place, and when he finally did and took his first bite, he legitimately almost cried. the looks and flavor have not changed one bit after all this time. the end.
