Wong's review of Quán Bà Già - Bánh mì tái lăn

There’s something about street food that just feels right… Learning to navigate street food can be a challenge at first: Language barriers, sanitation. You can get recommendations from locals, or if something looks and smells good enough, you just risk it, cause you know you’d regret it if you don’t try. I never really know what I’m getting, but it pretty much always tastes good and home cooked. It’s the opposite of the mass produced slop chain food that is so readily accessible in the west. Plus, getting to watch an aunty make your food in front of you is kind of emotional. In particular, how with nothing but a burner and and some oddly low stools, she’s able to feed a community. Street food is deeply human, but most importantly, it tastes really damn good.
