nickel city is a well known dive bar here in austin. haven’t been before but been on my list to check out for a while.
on thursdays (2nd and 4th of the month) they have a $19.99 deal where you get steak and fries + a beer + a shot.
the steak was okay (a lil tough on the inside) and they gave manny a bigger cut than me but for the price not bad.
fries were elite though (crispy, well seasoned, and crinkle cut) and makes me optimistic that their other bar food is likely worth trying.
beer and shot went down easy.
also ordered a frozen irish coffee which was next level (with a cool swirl!). might be in contention for my favorite frozen in austin.
vibes here were fun; bartender was super helpful with getting the TNF game on tv and they filled my water cup up 6x which was much appreciated. also met some cool characters and got free tattoos. will def be back; prob wont get the steak again.
