La Santa Barbacha
7.5
"have been in dire straits the past few days without my car 🥲 the freeze seems to have taken another victim.
meanwhile, i’ve been stranded wfh with no groceries. rookie mistake on my part. next time i’ll make sure to stock up on 10 gallons of milk and 20 loaves of bread.
decided to walk to another food truck for lunch but it was closed. all seemed lost cause my neighborhood is too bougee and doesn’t have a lot of affordable food options within walking distance. however, westside market recently opened and they have been hosting la santa barbacha which was a welcome surprise.
i’ve eaten at their OG location on the east side so I knew what to expect.
got the carne asada taco and the quesabarbacha.
the carne asada was okay and not particularly noteworthy. the tortilla was pretty good, soft corn and apparently fresh pressed. came with avocado on top which was nice. for $6 though, I don’t see the value there.
the quesabarbacha was solid. cheese def elevate this but cheese is kinda a cheat code for tacos. wish it was a little more gooey tho. kinda was a bit solidified by the time they gave it to me. the barbacoa was very good and flavorful. enjoyed this one more than the other.
the main issue I have with this place is the price; at $6 a taco i’m expecting excellence. it’s a good taco but it’s nothing that blows me away. unless you really like barbacoa I think this spot isn’t worth going out of the way for." - luke
