happy hour at eberly/cedar tavern was an excellent start to the weekend. $7 martinis, $5 “snacks”, $10 burger. ambiance is great, but I arrived late so I did not get a seat back on my stool 😢 eberly is one of the prettiest restaurants in austin i’ve been in; they have a room which looks like a greenhouse in a mansion. perfect 5th-7th date spot. we were on the bar side today which is where the happy hour is and it is known as cedar tavern after the greenwich village establishment the actual bar was transported from (Jibraan was less enamored with this than I thought he would be considering he is an architect who moved from NYC to Austin). food wise: burger was just okay. I think they put way too much pepper on it and nothing about it was particularly incredible. bill’s clears in all 4 categories (bun, patty, cheese, toppings), but for $10 it was not bad. the $5 side I got was normally $15 and was pretty awesome. mashed potato esque inside, crispy outside and the sauce it came with was stellar. idk the name cause it was some french. drinks were also really good and well worth it for $7. even tho I spilled my half my dirty martini on manny (by accident 🤓) overall, would def come back for the happy hour (but prob not to get the burger) or for a nice date to check out eberly’s full menu.
