my favorite birria spot in austin closed a few months back (palo seco 512). I’ve been on the hunt for a new replacement with little success.
highly rated by infatuation, I decided to give this unassuming spot a try. it definitely surpassed the other birria joints i’ve been to in Austin but still not as good as my former goat.
tortilla was pretty fire, cheese and meat were both very solid. consume was not my favorite but got the job done (a little too watery/spicy for my taste).
overall, a solid experience. I will likely come back unless palo seco decided to reopen, in which case there is no reason to go anywhere else.
