Lao Sze Chuan

"It was my first time trying peking duck, and I had somewhat high expectations because of the hype this place has received such as being called “chicago chinatown’s best restaurant” and an “authentic szechuan restaurant".
We ordered the peking duck and lao ma chao show since they were still preparing the xiao long bao. Unfortunately, both dishes were served more cold than warm, except for the pancakes that came with the duck.
The lao ma chao show was sweet and not spicy at all, and it lacked flavor to the point of being disappointing. The duck itself was okay but definitely set my expectations for peking duck pretty low. The upside is that if I try it at another restaurant, it will probably taste better.
The only “authentic” parts of the experience were that one of the servers tried speaking to me in chinese, and there was an older asian man, presumably the owner, sitting near the entrance, not greeting anyone, just wandering around and silently judging the people walking in. 🤡" - Lisa
